Pentecostal Place.Com Mourns the Loss of Pastor Timothy Wright! The Gospel Music great has passed on!
The Rev. Timothy Wright, the Grammy-nominated gospel singer and composer known for his up-tempo praise songs and powerful mass choir sound, has died. He was 61.
Spokesman Will Bogle says Wright died early Thursday at the Bronx Veterans Hospital. He had been seriously injured in a July car crash in Pennsylvania that killed his wife, Betty, and their teenage grandson. The wrong-way driver that hit them also died.
Timothy Wright was the pastor at Grace Tabernacle Christian Center Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn. He released more than a dozen gospel recordings in his career and wrote many of the songs.
In 1994, his record “Come Thou Almighty King,” with the New York Fellowship Mass Choir, made the Billboard Top 20 charts for gospel albums and was nominated for a Grammy.

This is unfortunate in the way in which it happened, but God is still in control! Pastor Wright was a soldier and he is now gone on to his reward!

I had just finish seeking the Lord’s face when I heard on satilite dish gospel station 6068 that our beloved brother passed on to be with the lord. I immediately felt the loss of sadness, but then that sadness immediately turned into gladness because I acknowledge that our lord and savior never give us more than we can bear. Our sweet savior beckoned him to leave this old word and join the heavenonly throne. Oh what a rejoicing with his wife. Hallejuah they made it home. To the wright’s family and our christian community at large, we just don’t know nor do we foresee the future. We don’t know if it will be natural causes or what, but we all have that prospective date. BUT THE MOST PWERFUL WEAPON WE HAVE IS JESUS, SO EVEN IN DEATH WE HAVE THE VICTORY! “OH DEATH WHERE IS THY STING!!!!!!” i AM SENSITIVE TO THE GREIF WE FEEL BECAUSE OF THE GREAT MEMORIES AND TIMES WE SHARE WITH OUR LOVED ONES BUT I STILL SAY WE HAVE THE VICTORY BECAUSE OUR FAITH IN JESUS ENABLES US TO SEE THEM AGAIN. TO THE WRIGHT’S FAMILY MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES BUT I STILL SAY GLORY AND WE WILL SEE OUR BELOVED BROTHER AGAIN. WE JUST HAVE TO CONTINUE SERVING THE LORD
